In society, we're always talking about how "the man" got us down. If there was ever a man who held a society down, it was Pharaoh, and he specifically targeted the Israelites. They were growing too large in numbers, and he feared they would take over Egypt so he oppressed them. The Israelites were forced into slavery for no humane reason (sound familiar?). He put ruthless slave drivers in place and worked them tirelessly. When these ideas didn't slow them down, he ordered for newborn baby boys to be killed at birth. What a corrupt man! His heart was so incredibly hard and all he was concerned about was his power, or losing it rather. His stubborness and hatred eventually cost him his firstborn son through a sequence of events designed to save God's people.

What makes anyone think they are better than anyone else? Better yet, why fear another population just because they're a little different? We all bleed red at the end of the day, so we must exercise humility in life so as not to risk losing the things we care about the most. Maybe even focus on how we can include others and learn about them so that we don't have to be afraid and separate from them.

Read Exodus 1:8-11 for more on the Pharaoh.
