"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."

The story of Job is one of Satan's failed attempt to turn someone against God. Satan didn't believe there was anyone on earth who was completely devoted to God. God asked Satan to try His servant, Job. Satan was ready to take on the challenge of throwing every troubling situation at Job, and God allowed Satan to try his hardest to turn Job against God. Ultimately, he failed. Job knew whose he was and that was enough to get him through. His friends and his wife all told him he was crazy, but he pushed through, and because of Job's faithfulness, God replenished his losses beyond what he originally had.

Job's story is a very simple one but very powerful at the same time. How many of us could God turn over to Satan, sparing only our lives, and we remain faithful to Him? It's not an easy feat to say the least. Let's model our lives after Job because our hope and joy does not come from our resources but from The Source. We are to remain faithful to Him and trust that He is always in control.
